Avatar of Chaos for some, Devil walking the million worlds for others, Yuber, the immortal, non-human half of what we see as balance, fascinated me throughout the Suikoden series. A tall, slender, distinguished man in black, features obscured by a wide-brimmed hat, long blonde hair pulled back in braid, he seems to be nothing more than a genteel nobleman out on a leasurely stroll... if it was not for the mismatched eyes -one slitted red, one blue- that marr his fine features and the aura of barely controlled chaos that seems to envelop him.

Not being fond of his Suikoden I and II armor, which he shares with Pesmerga, his opposite, I was delighted by his makeover in Suikoden III. Not only was he dressed very stylishly, he was also thinner and more "bishounen" than ever... if sporting a rather Amish-like hat. But nobody's perfect.

I spent long weeks perfecting the cut and style of this outfit, waited until I played the game to see it from all angles to have a perfect fit, and make sure the details were accurate... to my knowledge. Aye, there's the rub! It turned out that King Crimson was simplified in-game and that my first version was inadequate, as it was missing the details on the hilt, which are so intrinsic to the sword... as they are the reason for its name. Thus a new set of swords, correct down to the weave on the hilt, made their debut at Anime Expo 2003. I also started out with one red cat eye and one blue eye, for those were the colours in-game, until Konami graciously disclosed that the second eye was silver (never mind what you see when you play, it's a trick of the lighting). This oversight was fixed for Otakon 2003.

This costume has a interesting story to it, also... for Anime Expo 2003, we were to have a full Destroyers' group, and in order to do so made a Sarah costume for a friend of mine, who did not bother to tell us she would not attend. We looked for her all weekend with no luck, until our strategist came to the rescue (Bless the Silverbergs!) and found a random girl who looked just like Sarah and agreed to wear the costume. Sadly, none of the group photos came out. A full Destroyers' group will have to wait for another day!
